The Raging Torrent: Historical Inscriptions from
Cogan, Mordechai. The Raging Torrent: Historical Inscriptions from Assyria and Babylonia Relating to Ancient Israel. Jerusalem: Carta, 2008.
Why this matters here
Cogan's collection of ancient Near Eastern inscriptions supplies historical evidence for Assyrian imperial practice. The chapter uses that documentary context for the siege of Lachish without treating inscriptions as a complete history.
